SCIENTIFIC INQUIRY

 What  is scientific inquiry?

That is the first question come to our mind. Scientific inquiry is a process that result in constructing scientific knowledge. Scientific inquiry is a complex process and it combined with critically thinking, observations, comparing, contrasting and looking for cause and effect. We use it many times during our normal day today life.

We use scientific inquiry to solve our problems also. For an example, when our computer get a trouble to power on, we use scientific inquiry to fix it. For inquire about scientifically, we use tests for it. Lets look at about tests.

Tests and innovations

Tests is a procedure that use to find a quality, performance or relatability of something or someone. In simply our exams are also  a tests. It is use to measure our performance in a year or  a semester. Tests are most important part of the scientific inquiry. It help to make or a get a good decision for our problems.

The word innovation is relate with test. Simply, innovation is making something new. The word "innovation" is derived from Latin verb "Innovare" which shows the meaning of renew. It simply, describe about he improvement or replacement of something new.

Hypothesis

Hypothesis is a predictable proposed explanation for a test or phenomenon. Hypothesis is specially based on the observations. When in some days, we look at the sky and says, "Today will be a rainy day." It is also a hypothesis and we make that hypothesis  based on the environment. Hypothesis  simply explain what you expect to happen in the test or phenomenon.

Hypothesis are very important part in the scientific inquiry  because we use hypothesis to test and make a theory or decisions.  Experimental and non-experimental tests are used to test the hypotheses that we make during scientific inquiry.

There are two types of hypothesis that we use in scientific inquiry, they are

1. Auxiliary hypothesis

2.  Ad hoc hypothesis

Hypothesis that are assumed to be accurate in order for the test to work as planned called as auxiliary hypothesis. Auxiliary hypotheses must include be use responsibly  and should be independently testable.

Ad hoc hypothesis is a hypothesis that added to a theory in order to save it from being falsified. Ad hoc hypothesis is used in science as well as in philosophy.

Experimental and non-experimental tests.

Experimental tests is a test that involve one or more scientific manipulation of control variables. Experimental tests use to observation of the influence and non-experimental test is just an observation.

In scientific inquiry, confirmation and acceptability is more important part. Hempel's theory is use for confirm the hypothesis . This theory was introduced by Carl. G. Hempel.
